From Production to Publishing at CJC Online: Experiences, Insights, and Considerations for Adoption: Based on over ten years of experience with online publishing, the authors of this First Monday article provide suggestions on how more widespread adoption of online publishing might be achieved in Canadian social science and humanities journals given the current and quickly evolving publishing environment.

ELPUB 2008 - Open Scholarship: Authority, Community and Sustainability in the Age of Web 2.0: This International Conference on Electronic Publishing is entering its twelfth year and ELPUB2008 marks the first time the conference will be held in North America. The Knowledge Media Design Institute at the University of Toronto is the host for this important event which will be held in Toronto from June 25-27. The Call for Papers has been issued - the deadline for submission of abstracts is January 20th 2008.

Report on OA for digital repositories published by OAK Law project of Australia: American Scientist OA Forum comments on the report, A guide to developing open access through your digital repository, noting that OA advocates often seem to find it difficult to practise what they preach and that this report provides valuable tips for overcoming this tendency.

New Research Policy a Victory for 'Open Access': Michael Geist has published an article in the Toronto Star on CIHR's new open access policy for the research that it funds.  A number of blogs have reported on the CIHR policy: "Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Policy on Access to Research Outputs" on Heather Morrison's Blog; "OA Mandate at the CIHR" on Peter Suber's OA News Blog; "Canada's CIHR: 31st to Adopt a Green OA Self-Archiving Mandate" on Stevan Harnad's blog; and "CIHR Introduces New Open Access Policy" on Michael Geist's own blog.

Canada's CIHR Adopts a Green OA Self-Archiving Mandate: The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) has just announced its official adoption of the Green Open Access Self-Archiving Mandate it had proposed last year. This is the 31st Green OA Mandate adopted worldwide but the 1st in North America.
